Dear Friends, Thank you, you and you for your faithful prayers and support that make SWM’s ministry possible.
SWM Monthly Reports: Good News! The challenge for the SWM asphalt parking lot has been met. Paving will begin in early May. Thank YOU! Our “free” Deaf Bible Institute (1,142 enrolled) is now available online, dbi@SilentWord.org. We offer 20 courses plus a new Christian Growth series. SWM Salvation reports: Through our 24/7/365 varied ministries, last year we had 566 reported salvations and 89 through March this year (see SWM Team Members’ reports back page). Remember, the Deaf listen with their eyes. So, through the media ministry we are able to reach the deaf worldwide. The world has become our harvest field (visit SilentWordMinistries.org). Go into all the world includes the Deaf. To God be the glory great things He hath done! – Ted Camp, Founder
The SWM Team of Jon and Diane Barr, Reed and Donna Condra, Tabitha Beam, and Allen Snare conducted 3 Fantastic Saturdays in March, in Ringgold, Georgia; Snellville, Georgia (Atlanta area); and Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Lord blessed with 301 in attendance (150 Deaf and 151 Hearing), 36 churches represented, and 2 salvation decisions (with 1 more on Sunday morning). There were an additional 46 other decisions made.
Jon and Diane Barr led a group of 14 (6 Deaf and 8 Hearing) for a tour of Israel. What a blessing to see places where Biblical events occurred and places where prophesied events will take place, to walk where Jesus walked, to be in a church service with Messianic Jews praising the Lord, and to see both Deaf and Hearing people understanding things from Scripture that they had not known before! The group also met several Deaf people (including a group of Christians from Ukraine) and gave out DVDs which have the Gospel presented in gestures, in order to cross language barriers. One of the greatest blessings was that one Deaf team member, Bob, accepted the Lord as his Savior, and Ursala (hearing team member) led a Muslim lady to the Lord in the Istanbul airport!
Reed and Donna Condra ministered in spring Fantastic Saturdays by teaching classes for couples and for children. Also, Reed taught the men, and Donna taught the ladies at the Chattanooga Rescue Mission. Praise the Lord for one salvation decision made there. In the couples class they teach at Harvest Baptist Church of the Deaf, they had one visitor and one member make salvation decisions! They also thank the Lord that their family is healthy, busy, and blessed.
Allen Snare is thankful for the open doors of ministry the Lord gives him. In March he preached in Bristol, Virginia, and for chapel at Harvest Deaf Bible College in Georgia. In early April, Allen was blessed to go on the SWM Israel trip. He loved seeing the places of the Bible – especially the empty tomb! He says he is now able to understand the Bible better.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider report a great revival at Ephraim Baptist Church for the Deaf. David Peach (Baptist International Outreach) preached, visitors came, and 15 people made service/surrender decisions. Paul continues personal ministry to men in his church through one-on-one Bible studies. He recently took several men to a men’s prayer meeting. This was especially helpful to one man whose work schedule prevents him from coming to church at regular service times.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart praise the Lord for great meetings in South Carolina, an opportunity to present their ministry in Pennsylvania, and an almost-full schedule of meetings for the spring. They are thankful for your prayers for safe travels, something never to be taken for granted. They are also grateful for temporary missionary housing the Lord has provided for them in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area.
Jon and Diane Barr ask prayer for their meetings in May – the last two spring Fantastic Saturdays (in Phoenix and in the Los Angeles area), and teaching Sign Language and preaching in Belize, Central America. Please pray also for two additional ministry needs – to replace their iPad and accessories used for preaching and teaching (need: $450), and for a mission trip in November, where they will preach and teach at the Efata (Deaf) Bible Conference in Peru (need: $2,000). Gifts can be sent to SWM, designated “Barr Projects.”
Reed and Donna Condra ask prayer for wisdom as they focus on their ministry goals.
Allen Snare would appreciate your prayer for his busy summer schedule. He will be preaching for 5 weeks of Deaf camp at the Bill Rice Ranch and another week of Deaf camp in Pennsylvania. He also will lead the SWM Deaf Bible Conferences in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider ask prayer for special services for their church as they celebrate their 14th anniversary on June 22 & 23. In July several from the church will be going to the Deaf Adult Camp at the Bill Rice Ranch. Also, the Strosniders’ support level is at 86%. Pray as they schedule meetings in the fall to try to get that support need met. If eleven more churches, families, or individuals would decide to support them at $50 a month, the need would be met. Perhaps you would like to give a one-time gift or monthly support. Send to SWM, designated “Strosniders.”
Bruce and Amanda Stuart request prayer for more deputation meetings for the summer and fall. Their support level is at about 40%. Please pray also for funds to print additional letterhead and envelopes. The need is $435. Donations for this can be sent to SWM, designated “Stuart – Special Project.”
SWM asks prayer for more laborers, Deaf and hearing, in the home office (especially in technology and maintenance), as missionaries and regional directors, as missionaries on foreign fields, and as workers in Deaf ministries all across America.
SWM Missionaries needing more support: Jon Barr, Tabitha Beam, David Bennett, Nicole Condra, Reed Condra, Larry Galyen, Bud Ring, Paul Strosnider, Bruce Stuart, and the SWM home office.
