Interpreting – Interpreting simply means to “to explain or tell the meaning of” or to “present in understandable terms” (Miriam-Webster). Similar words are: to explain, to make clear, to shed light on. Interpreting is the skill of translating “orally or into sign language the words of a person speaking a different language” (Oxford).
American Sign Language – American Sign Language (ASL) is a natural language that serves as the predominant sign language of Deaf communities in the United States (Wikipedia).
