One of the joys we have is to hear from those who have been blessed by our ministry. We often receive good reports from postal mail, email, Facebook, and other social media. This month I would like to share several of these responses with you. Thank you for helping make this ministry possible!
I just attended ASLI for the first time this past weekend! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I learned so much! Jon and Diane Barr, Jim and Terri Bracelin, and Allen Snare are wonderful people! God has blessed them with a love for the deaf and hearing! I would encourage anyone to attend next year! I purchased many of their excellent materials! – Rebekah
A Deaf man in our church passed away yesterday of stomach cancer. We brought him to the Deaf conference with us there a few years ago. We couldn’t get him to understand, but Allen Snare led him to the Lord. Please let Allen know that I rejoice James is in Heaven and am so thankful for Allen and SWM. Please pray for us. God bless – Nancy
Yesterday we returned from a visit to our sons and grandkids in Chadron NE. We gave a tract to a deaf husband and wife working at Walmart in that small town. On return to MA we found a deaf woman working at a favorite thrift store also gave her one. We aren’t real good at signing but making progress. God bless His work through SWM. – Ray & Linda Watson – To the Jew first and also to the Deaf.
Love this series (Creation to Christ on SignTheBible.com)! They’re very helpful and our deaf people here (Cambodia) love to watch them. Appreciate all the hard work that goes into these videos! This is such an amazing project! Praying for you and the deaf who will be reached through this video! May God be glorified and Deaf reached with the Gospel! – Grace (Cambodia)
Hello Mr. Jim Bracelin, I am writing to thank you for loving our Lord Savior with your heart, voice, hands and time. I watch the DeafVitalSigns.com OT Sign Language lessons with your voice. I am growing in our Lord and Savior Word of God thru the lessons on YouTube too! Thank you! Enclosed is my $50 gift. I am hearing, but both my husband and daughter need hearing aids and we sign. Want you to know you have been a blessing and strengthen my faith in our Lord’s Word. Thank you – Marcy
I am sending you the Spanish translations of the “Think on These Things” articles written by Jon Barr. Praying for the Deaf World, Marta L. Galdamez (IPM Missions).
This is a great ministry that is impacting a forgotten people: the Deaf . They actually care! I get so excited whenever I get their newspaper! SWM has made a huge eternal impact! I love their materials! Thank you for touching my life, and being so instrumental in the vision of my Deaf ministry! Words can not describe how thankful I am. Thank you!!! – Zach
What a blessing – this ministry opened my eyes to our deaf friends in a way I cannot describe except to say I will never hear something the same way I used to. The best part of the weekend for me was to realize what little I bring can help someone with nothing. I am committed to serving God in the deaf ministry as long as He allows me to. Thank you for your ministry! Our ministry! God’s ministry! – Ann
Again, SWM thanks you, our supporters and prayer partners for investing in this ministry. It is our privilege to take the Gospel and God’s Word to the Deaf on your behalf. Your prayers and gifts help SWM influence many Deaf and hearing for Christ!
For Deaf Souls,
Jon and Diane Barr thank the Lord for the great Deaf camp in Florida. There were 122 people, mostly from Florida and Georgia, and 23 salvation decisions!
David and Vicki Bennett report that David had an amazing trip to Africa’s Ivory Coast and Liberia. One evening 5 Deaf men were saved, and several other salvation decisions were made throughout the trip. The Bennetts also conducted a Deliberate Discipleship Retreat, where they invested in the lives of 9 young adults, teaching and demonstrating 16 spiritual disciplines for the life of a Christian.
Jim and Terry Bracelin, Jon and Diane Barr, and Allen Snare thank you for your prayers for the Pennsylvania ASL Institute / Deaf Bible Conference. There were 87 people present from 9 different states, and 5 people made salvation decisions! Many expressed their thanks for the sign language training, the emphasis on ministry, and the encouragement for reaching more Deaf people in their areas – their own mission fields.
Jay and Cathy Savelle thank the Lord for the opportunity they had to witness at the Ohio State Fair. The area there has a very large Muslim and LGBT population. During the two weeks there, they had 33 professions of salvation! They also praise the Lord that their heating and air unit was replaced by a Christian man at a discounted rate.
Allen Snare invited to the ASLI / Deaf Bible Conference three Deaf people who went with him to Pennsylvania School for the Deaf many years ago. How exciting it was when they all three showed up! How much more thrilling when Allen was able to lead all three to the Lord that afternoon! Allen’s prayer is that more and more Deaf people will be saved.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider report that Paul had a great time at the Bill Rice Ranch with Brad (deaf young man) and Doug (family member). During their free time Paul was able to study with Brad to help him prepare to preach his second sermon.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart had opportunities in July to present their ministry in North Carolina, and to set up their display at the National Sword of the Lord Conference. They talked with many pastors and scheduled several meetings for the remainder of 2017. Bruce also preached in churches in Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Jon and Diane Barr and Jim and Terry Bracelin look forward to a new fall season of Fantastic Saturdays. Pray for God’s wisdom and power, and for people to respond in these meetings in Missouri, Connecticut, Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and New Jersey.
Tabitha Beam requests prayer for September travels to St. Louis for a missions conference with the Strosniders and Ephraim Baptist Church for the Deaf and to Colorado for a Ladies Retreat.
Nicole Condra requests prayer for God to touch people’s hearts and raise up more laborers to reach Deaf people around the world. Pray for wisdom in ministry travels, boldness in witnessing, and tender hearts to receive God’s Word. Pray also for the 40% additional support needed.
Bud and Jenna Ring, Allen Snare, and Jim and Terry Bracelin ask prayer for their first Deaf Revival in New Albany, Nova Scotia.
Jay and Cathy Savelle ask prayer for pastors they contact to be willing to hear about their ministry and to want classes on witnessing. Pray for the Lord’s continued guidance and blessings in their ministry.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider ask your prayers for a Palestinian lady whom Rachel has met in a couple different stores and at the library. Abigail and the lady’s daughter are nearly the same age. Please pray for Rachel to be able to befriend the lady and to find a way to share the Gospel with her. Please pray for safety for travels to Tennessee, Missouri, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Pray also that God would bring in the remaining 21% of their needed support.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart ask prayer for God to use them during this time of pre-field ministry and for them to complete their deputation by December 2018. Please pray for them to schedule many meetings, especially missions conferences, for next year. Their heart’s desire is to soon begin God’s work in Gabon, reaching and teaching lost Deaf people.
SWM encourages you to pray for more laborers, both Deaf and hearing. SWM needs more missionaries, especially Deaf, regional directors, and someone to help in technical areas.
