Dear Friends and Supporters,
Every new day, month, and year is a new opportunity to serve the Lord. Each new day the Lord’s “compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23). The Lord is always faithful toward us. It is a joy to faithfully serve Him with the people to which He has called us – the Deaf. The SWM mission statement is, “But we will give ourselves… to the ministry of the Word” – to Deaf people worldwide – Acts 6:4
Training – In January SWM conducted our annual Community Sign Language class with 32 attendees. The Lord continues to increase our ministry as people look to SWM for help. Recently, a lady who had some sign language training contacted us. She had never interpreted, but now, for the first time, a Deaf man visited her church. She interpreted as best she could. When he said he would come back, she wrote SWM for help. In just a few weeks SWM will conduct a Fantastic Saturday in her area. We also invited her to our summer ASL Institute training. SWM also has books, videos, and experience to help. This story is now very common. We are thankful and pleased to invest in new deaf ministries. Someone must reach and teach the Deaf.
SWM Outreaches – Boot Camp for Deaf Ministries (BootCamp4Deaf.com) is growing. Lessons are being added for hearing people (in spoken English), and now other lessons are now being planned in Sign Language (by Deaf people, for Deaf people). Spring Fantastic Saturdays have now begun. Several SWM missionaries on deputation report that their support is increasing. SWM websites (view all from SilentWordMinistries.org) are reaching more people than ever. SWM books and videos are now reaching far beyond the borders of our country. We were surprised to learn that the SWM salvation follow-up website, Follow8Steps.org, reported 18,751 visits last year.
Volunteers – Everyone in the SWM office is either a volunteer or a missionary who must raise his own support. Some have even moved to Trenton to help. We are very grateful for the many volunteers who assemble books, make DVDs, and help with landscaping, upkeep, and much more. They help make this unique missionary ministry possible. It may surprise you to know that last year 96 people were involved at SWM as volunteers, missionaries or board members. This is God’s ministry, not ours.
“Here We Grow Again” – SWM’s policy is to build as the Lord provides. Often when people think of growth, they think of buildings. SWM is now growing by producing a wide variety of deaf ministry videos. These are exciting days! Because of this growth, our present system is not adequate to meet the need. We have been advised that we now need a “NAS” (backup device). The cost will be a one-time cost of $1,700. Please designate gifts “Electronics Upgrade.” Thank you for helping us grow.
SWM is honored to partner with you in ministry. Whether you support an individual missionary, several missionaries, or the SWM office, we are careful to ensure all funds are used wisely and as designated. Thank you for partnering with us to reach the Deaf World for Christ!

SWM Missionaries – Ministry of Helps
“Helping Churches Fulfill The Great Commission To The Deaf World”
Jon and Diane Barr have been strongly involved in ministry in the SWM office in January and February. The end of one year and the beginning of a new one call for a lot of reporting and planning. What a blessing to see how the Lord used the ministry in 2016, and what a challenge to be vessels that He will continue to use in 2017!
Tabitha Beam reports that the Trenton Community Sign Language class was amazing with over 30 people attending. Others from SWM joined her in sharing things about the Deaf world and the way to share the Gospel with them.
Jim and Terry Bracelin report a fantastic year of ministry in 2016. They held 13 Fantastic Saturdays, were in two missions conferences, taught 5 sign language classes, hosted the Northeast ASL Institute, filmed weekly Bible studies for the Deaf (visit DeafVitalSigns.com), spoke in various revival meetings, attended 2 different weeks of meetings for spiritual refreshment, and launched a new website – bootcamp4deaf.com. In all of these the Lord greatly blessed their ministry.
Reed and Donna Condra report good feedback from the Deaf Men’s Retreat. Men’s hearts were encouraged.
Jay and Cathy Savelle attended a Discipleship retreat and recently visited Ensenada, Mexico, and Honolulu, Hawaii. In both places, they handed out several tracts and children’s DVDs.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider thank the Lord that several deaf people have recently visited their church.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart traveled safely from Georgia to New York where they presented in three different churches and made contact with a fourth church. There they met a Deaf lady who felt you could not know for sure you were going to go to Heaven. They witnessed to her and left her with a Gospel tract. Would you please pray for Alison?
Jon and Diane Barr would appreciate your prayers for the spring Fantastic Saturdays. They will conduct two in Georgia, and others in South Carolina, Arizona, and California. Please pray for the Lord’s presence and power in the meetings.
Tabitha Beam is helping two ladies in a Tennessee church to learn more signs and the ASL grammar so they can interpret for a Deaf lady in their church. Tabitha will also help with the interpreting as they learn.
David and Vicki Bennett have an immediate need for a ministry vehicle to replace their current one that has over 330,000 miles on it.
Jim and Terry Bracelin have as the goal for 2017 to stay under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and depend on His filling to provide the power to accomplish His will. Please pray with them to reach this goal.
Reed and Donna Condra would appreciate your prayers that they might reach their 2017 ministry goals. Pray also for their family members’ ministry.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider ask prayer that at least one of their Deaf church members would grow enough to begin discipling another person. Pray also for their spring church revival.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart are praying for a full schedule of meetings for this year. After several weeks of praying about helping with a Deaf camp in Cameroon, they decided that it was not the Lord’s will for them at this time. Therefore, they have some openings in April.
Drew and Melinda Wright resumed their traveling on deputation in February. Please join them in praying for more churches to partner with them so they can tell the Deaf and Hearing people of the United Kingdom about Jesus Christ.
SWM encourages you to pray for more laborers, both Deaf and hearing. SWM needs more missionaries, especially Deaf, regional directors, and someone to help in technical areas.
SWM Missionaries needing more support: Jon Barr, Tabitha Beam, David Bennett, Reed Condra, Nicole Condra, Larry Galyen, Bud Ring, Paul Strosnider, Bruce Stuart, Bill Towner, and Drew Wright. Please pray also for support for the Home Office.
