In The Center of God’s Will

I believe that the most challenging thing in the life of a Christian is to walk in the center of the will of God everyday.  It is easy to live based on our own wants and desires, but God’s plan is for us to live according to what God wants for our lives.  Are you walking in the center of God’s will today?  Have you given it much thought?  If you are not, or you have not given it much thought, today would be a good day to start.

For a Christian there is abundance of blessing within the will of God – there is trial and turmoil outside the will of God.  It sometimes seems that man has a better plan than God and we wander off to follow it.  I am thankful that God lovingly draws us back into His will.  The thing He sometimes uses is very difficult times.  We don’t like the difficulties, but we do enjoy the peace that comes in the center of God’s will.

If a Christian wants to stay within the will of God there is a simple key that we read in the pages of our Bible.  The psalmist wrote, “I delight to do Thy will, O my God: yea Thy law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:8).

Certainly we want to do God’s will and we surely delight when we are in it; however, the way to stay in God’s will is what we sometimes struggle with.  As simple as it sounds, the key to being in the center of God’s will is to keep His law on the throne of our hearts.  Sounds easy, doesn’t it?  Not as easy as it sounds for sure.

I was raised in a Christian home … and did not have a consistent time alone with God each day.  I graduated from Bible college … and still did not have a consistent time in the Word of God everyday.  It was not until I was in the ministry for over one year that I began to read my Bible and give God consistent time everyday in my life.  I can tell you that the will of God is much clearer when I am reading the Word of God.

I believe the Devil would rather a Christian do many other “things” that are of a spiritual nature than to see a believer reading their Bible consistently.  Today, run to the Word of God and beg the Holy Spirit to guide you into the truth of it.  Don’t let it wander far from your heart as decisions for today need to be made.  Memorize verses that touch your heart so you will have them with you at all times.  The will of God is found in the Word of God!  Stay connected today to the source of God’s voice to you.
