Dear Friends and Supporters of SWM,
Recently I viewed Paul’s ministry and the many people who made it possible. In his writings and greetinngs he mentions over 25 people who were helpers in his ministry, such as Barnabas, Silas, Luke, Timothy, Titus, John Mark, Epaphras, Phebe, Priscilla and Aquila, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Tychicus, Onesimus, Onesiphorus, Aristarchus, Marcus, and Archippus just to mention a few. (Note: It is obvious that they did not have baby name books in those days). Paul was continually aware that his many friends and supporters made his ministry possible. Together they served the Lord into all the world. As I viewed these names I noticed that churches sent special gifts to take care of his needs. Many prayed for him and his ministry to both the Jews and Gentiles. The ministry involves many who make ministries possible. Paul writes to them, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3). As he thought of them he was thankful and remembered the times they were there as friends, supporters to help make his ministry possible. Paul remembered them even in his last letter. He realized that people are more important than things. Each missionary can say, “I am here because your were “there.” “And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together” (John 4:36). The program started with Paul and continues with each missionary and you.
With this thought in mind, let me ask you some questions. Can you name… the last three vice presidents …the last two governors of your state… who won the last Nobel or Pulitzer Prize… the five richest people in world… who won the last two Super Bowls, World Series, College Football Championship, or the Final Four? Who was the golfer, boxer, tennis or bowler or fisherman of the year? Who was Time Magazine “Person of the Year? I did not do very well? How did you do? This proves the simple fact that fame fades, but memories remain.
Each missionary as they write their prayer letters think of you who make their ministry possible. It takes at least 50 to 75 churches and supporters to make their ministry possible. Each month they receive your support into their escrow. Individual supporters, addresses, and amounts are provided to each missionary. I still have the privilege of opening the morning mail. As I do I thank the Lord for the many faithful supporters and at times it is my joy to send a special email to the missionary to advise him of new and special gifts. It is my custom and I feel the same with each missionary that they view the list of supporters and friends who make their ministry possible. It is amazing that so many of you have been so faithful these many years. I believe that as each missionary views his support list of names that as Paul we can all say, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” All of us are amazed and surprised of the many who individuals, friends, and churches who were touched to help make our ministry possible. As Paul you are an Onesiphorus who refreshes us. An Acquila and Priscilla who invited us into your heart and home. A special church who has been there to meet our special needs. A Timothy and Titus who comforts us. A Tychicus to be our ambassador to present our ministries to others. A Luke who has remained with us. Yes, many things may have changed these many years, but the memories and moments still remain. Each month each missionary can say, “We thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”
As of this mailing, we have had reported salvations through our 365/12/7/24 varied ministries. Also on behalf of the many deaf who have been saved because of your prayers and support, we say, “Thank You.” Because you give, many deaf will hear in Heaven!

Jon and Diane Barr, along with Allen Snare, conducted a Fantastic Saturday in Missouri. There were 43 people present, and 7 made service decisions. Jon also taught sign language in a new Deaf ministry in South Carolina. Over 20 people were in the class, including the pastor and his wife. The church already has one Deaf member!
Jim and Terry Bracelin had a refreshing day at the Northeast Summit in New Jersey. They also thank the Lord for the SWM yearly meeting with all the missionaries and guests. There was a great spirit of enthusiasm and determination to serve the Lord. The Bracelins and Bud and Jenna Ring conducted a Fantastic Saturday in Long Island. There were 61 people present, 32 made dedication decisions, and there was a genuine hunger for the Scripture.
Reed and Donna Condra and Nicole Condra presented their ministries in various missions emphasis meetings in North Carolina. While in that state, they spent some time volunteering at a camp. Reed also led their neighbor, Michael, to the Lord.
Bud and Jenna Ring were blessed to attend the Bluenose Campmeeting in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia. Nine Deaf people (several newly saved and baptized) also attended the entire week and were blessed by the preaching. The Rings also had their first official deputation trip, with meetings in Alabama (where they taught a week of sign language), Tennessee, Ohio, Maine, and Massachusetts.
Jay and Catherine Savelle (a new family serving under SWM’s Ministry of Helps) praise the Lord for His work through them at the Ohio State Fair. They distributed over 1200 tracts and 100 children’s DVDs. They also were able to effectively share the Gospel with many people, and 24 made salvation decisions!
Allen Snare preached for the Pennsylvania Deaf and Family Camp, for another church in Pennsylvania, and one in Virginia. He reports two salvation decisions.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider praise the Lord that Brad (a 16-year-old Deaf young man in their church) preached his first sermon on August 17th. They also report that 4 people have trusted Christ as Savior this past month.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart thank the Lord for good meetings in Texas. There they had the opportunity to preach in voice and sign language for a Deaf man, Bobby.
Jon and Diane Barr ask prayer for the Lord to use them to influence many young lives for missions during a Christian college’s missions emphasis week. Pray also for the work on many SWM projects.
Jim and Terry Bracelin request prayer for many meetings in October, including missions conferences in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Fantastic Saturdays in Michigan and Pennsylvania, presentations of their ministry in New Jersey and West Virginia, sign language classes in their home church, and the Deaf Ladies Retreat in Tennessee!
Ted and Carlene Camp would appreciate your prayers for Carlene’s brother, Bob, as he deals with major health issues.
Reed and Donna Condra ask prayer for their neighbor, Michael who was recently saved. Pray they will be able to be an influence in his spiritual growth. Pray for upcoming meetings, including a Fantastic Saturday with Jim and Terry Bracelin in Holt, Michigan. Please pray also for their son, Joel, and Sarah McDowell as they plan to marry on October 29. Pray for their future life and ministry.
Bud and Jenna Ring ask prayer for the Deaf in Bridgetown and Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, to serve in the local churches and to become more burdened about reaching other Deaf people for Christ. Please continue to pray about their need for a truck to pull their trailer.
Jay and Catherine Savelle will be sharing a 4-part series on “Sharing Christ With Confidence.” Please pray for the Lord to work in hearts, stirring people for witnessing. Pray also for the Lord to open doors in other churches that they might be able to share their excitement and burden for training up soul-winners.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider would appreciate your prayers for Paul’s health. He has had recurring bouts with malaria (from a trip to Africa several years ago). They are very hopeful for the success of a new treatment he has started. Please pray for a full recovery. Please continue to pray for church members to obey the Holy Spirit’s work in their hearts.
Bruce and Amanda Stuart ask prayer for good health and safety during upcoming travels to Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. They are praying to reach 30% of their support level by the year’s end. Please pray also for Bobby’s spiritual growth and for those interpreting for him to continue learning ASL.
