Love can have many meanings. God loves me. I love God. One love is a holy love and the other is human love. I can also say, “I love my: wife, children, family, friends, church, ministry, and fried chicken. I will love my children differently than I love your children or visaversa. Some may not love what I love. Love is a verb that shows action. Love must be given, not taken. How much does God love you? “For God so loved the world (you), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (you) believeth in him should not perish (in Hell), but have everlasting life (In Heaven)” (John 3:16). I can understand why I love God, but I cannot understand why He loves me. There are times that I don’t love me. The Lord loves with an agape unconditional love that requires no conditions or requirements. Thereis not one thing I can do to make God love me more or less. God does not see my sin, but He sees His Son in my place (I John 5:12). God loves because God is love. If God did not love He would cease being God (1 John 4:8;16). His love, grace, and peace passes all understanding (Phil. 4:7). Frederick Lehman defines the love of God, “The love of God is greater far; Than tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star; And reaches to the lowest hell… O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure; Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made; Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade; To write the love of God above; Would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole; Though stretched from sky to sky.” It is not amazing that I love God, but it is amazing that God loves me and you. Dear friend, At this time you may feel alone, unloved, hopeless, abandoned, neglected, and forsaken, but God loves you. He promises never to leave or forsake you – Never! (Heb. 13:5). Now, say it aloud, “GOD loves ME.” Say it over and over again, “GOD loves ME.” Ask, “How do I know?” Answer, “The Bible tells me so.” “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1John 4:10). On the cross, the Lord can widely stretch His arms and say, “I love you this much.” He became our sacrifice and substitute for sin. His love is past understanding, unmeasurable, unalterable, unbroken, undaunted, undeniable, undetermined, unmatched, unequaled, unmerited, unusual, unfailing, unfathomable, unique, unwavering, and unearned. Remember, God’s love is only limited by your free-will. He cannot and will not force you to love Him. It is your choice! You can receive or reject His eternal love (John 1:12). You can say, “yes” or “no.” No choice is still a choice. Right now, open your heart and let Him love you. Do not reject the best love you will ever know. God loves you, and you, and you, and even you!
