A Changed Life

A Changed Life

Two of the greatest testimonies for the Lord are a changed life and a consistent life. This is my favorite story of a changed life… During a service an unruly man approached Charles Finney and said, “I want you to come home with me, Mr. Finney. Some warned Mr. Finney not to go. But he went with the man. In the house the man locked the door, and pulled a gun and said, “Don’t be afraid, Mr. Finney. I am not going to shoot you. I heard you preach about the Lord Jesus Christ. This gun has killed four men. Is there any hope for a man like that?” Finney replied, “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin” The man answered, “You don’t understand, I run a saloon. I am a gambler. I have helped send men to hell; I have helped men rob their own children of food and milk. Is there any hope for a man like that? Finney replied, The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. He then said, “At home there is a wife I have abused, a little girl who is disfigured because of me. Is there any hope for a man like that? Finney said, “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.” Then Mr. Finney prayed and left. Alone, the man prayed all night. The next morning his wife said to his little girl, “Go tell your daddy it’s time for breakfast.” She frightfully went upstairs and stammered, “Daddy, mama says it’s time for breakfast” The man said, “I will be right down, Maggie darling!” She ran downstairs and said, “Mama, Daddy called me darling!” The mother said, “You made a mistake. Go back and tell him it’s time for breakfast.” In a moment the man came down, smiled, took his wife in his arms and his little girl on his knee. “Oh wife, he wept, I have sinned against you, but last night I heard about Jesus and about the blood of Jesus. Last night I was saved. You now have a new husband. Daughter, you have a new daddy.”

The man could have said, “That man does not live here anymore.” Yes, Jesus can change lives. Today, He can make you a new husband, a new daddy, a new wife, a new mother, or a new son or daughter. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). Christian, where would you be today if the Lord had not saved you? The Lord changes lives from the inside out. Only God can fill the emptiness within man. “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. (Psalm 107:9). Do you need a changed life? The Lord can give you an “extreme makeover” today! He still changes lives. How do I know? Because when I was 23 years old He changed my life…These Are Words of Wisdom.

“God can do extraordinary things with ordinary people”
