Week 15 – Seek To Be The Most Profitable Steward

Seek to be a More Profitable Steward

“I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten…Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me.” — Philemon 1:10-11

After you are saved you should choose to be a profitable steward of the Lord. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1-2). When you were saved that is what the Lord did for you. There comes a time after your salvation that you should seek to do something for Him. Onesimus was unprofitable but he became profitable. Don’t love things but love people.  The only thing God is interested in is people. Invest in others. The Lord is also seeking the best returns for His investments. Are you a profitable steward worthy of His investments.

A Steward – A steward is the manager and overseer of another’s property and possessions. A good steward will wisely use them to produce profits for his master. The Lord will reward according to his works. You are either a profitable or unprofitable steward. You will be judged three ways: According to: 1. What you have done. 2. What you could have done. 3. What you left undone. Every Christian is accountable to the Lord.  Don’t waste your life on earthly things but seek eternal things with everlasting profits. Seek to use and increase what the Lord has given you. Be willing to be a profitable steward used of the Lord. “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not” (II Corinthians 8:12). The Lord asks you to first be willing to do what you can. He does not ask you to do what you cannot do. At the Judgment Seat of Christ we will all wish we had done more (II Corinthians 5:10). As Onesimus become a profitable servant not only to the Lord but also to others!
