Week 11 – This Day I Will Rejoice And Be Glad In It

This Day I Will Rejoice and Be Glad In It

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

“This day” – As you awake each morning you need to realize and appreciate “this new day.” You must choose how to live “this day” because happiness is a choice.  Your attitude controls your actions. A good friend, Eugene Bordean, had terminal cancer and was given only a few months to live. He said, “Every morning I awake I thank God for the new day. It does not matter to me whether it is sunny or rainy. I cherish the day greatly.” He learned the value of “this day.” You have been given “this day.” Do not waste a moment mourning yesterday’s problems, defeats, or heartaches. Yesterday is buried forever and you should think no more of it. You need to focus on “this day” before you. You need to greet the sunshine with joy in your heart, and with thanks in your soul for “this day.”

“The Lord hath made” – No matter what happens on “this day” it has been made by the Lord. Everything that happens to me must first go through Him with His approval. He is too wise to do wrong. Thank you God for “this day.” “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). Yesterday is past, tomorrow has not come, we have “this day.” “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits” (Psalms 68:19).

“I will rejoice and be glad in it” – There are many who can no longer greet “this day.” The sun set but did not rise for them. They are not able to open their eyes to see the beauty of “this day.” They are not able to breathe in the life that has been given. There are many who are not able to lift up their heads. There are many who cannot walk into the sunshine of the day. You are fortunate that you have been given “this day.” Seek to fulfill your duties this day. Embrace those you love because tomorrow they may be gone, and so may you. Seek to encourage friends in need as tomorrow they will no longer cry for help, nor will you hear their cries.  This day make the best of it. Appreciate every minute of “this day.” Seek to make every hour meaningful. This could be my last day, and if it is not, I shall rise to my feet tomorrow and give thanks for another day.

This Week
I will rejoice in every day and be glad in it!
