The First Goal Of A Deaf Ministry
(Condensed from booklet D38 Soulwinning)
It has been said, “The church that does not go will soon be gone!” Jesus Christ came to seek and save people who were lost. “For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). This should also be the goal of a good ministry, to seek and save lost people. Always remember that Deaf people have souls, families and needs, and they face eternity. The greatest need of Deaf people is not to hear, but to be saved. In Heaven they will hear forever! Because they have lost their hearing, must they also lose their souls? Never forget that your priority is to present the Lord and the Bible to the Deaf in Sign Language. If you do not help them, who will? One hundred years from now the only thing that will be important is salvation. It is good to take care of those who come to your church, but the great need is for those in the church to go visit and win other Deaf to the Lord. You cannot find in the Bible where the sinner is to come to church, but the Bible does teach that the church should go to the sinner. Always make the Great Commission part of your ministry.
The Great Commission is divided into two parts:
1. Preach Gospel (evangelize them).
2. Teach Them (disciple them).
“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel (Deaf) is, that they might be saved.” (Romans 10:1).
