I love sports. I especially love baseball. My favorite team is the Atlanta Braves. Usually I stay a few days with Ted Camp every summer. What do you think we do? We get snacks and sit to watch the Atlanta Braves play. There is one problem as Ted wants to watch the game and will not interpret for me. So, I grab the remote control and put it on caption for the Deaf. Now, I don’t want Ted to bother me. We both watch and enjoy the game. Sometimes I get drowsy when the Braves are behind, but sometimes I jump up and shout when “Chipper Jones” hits a home run. I get excited. Carlene will come in to see if everything is all right because she heard a strange loud noise. I am told that the Deaf shout differently than hearing people. When the Braves win, I am excited, but when they lose, I am disappointed. It is hard to depend upon the Braves all the time. They have good years and bad years. I am thankful that God is not like the Braves. I can depend upon Him all the time. God is faithful. He has promised never to leave or forsake you. God will always keep His promises and His Word. King Solomon wrote about the faithful promises of God. “Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise” (I Kings 8:56). Some Deaf become discouraged or depressed because of the economy and problems. Some Deaf have lost their jobs and finances because of the economy. Don’t look at your problems, but look to God. He will not fail you. The Lord will not disappoint you. You can depend upon Him. The Deaf can depend upon God even during the bad economy. I know because I am Deaf and for many, many years God has taken care of me. The Deaf can depend upon God!
