Are You Ready or Not?
Did you know that is some countries the Deaf are not permitted to drive? Here in America most teens get a learner’s permit and next a driver’s license. I remember I got my driver’s license when I was 20 years old. It was exciting. One day I was driving fast and did not see a police car with radar. Soon a flashing light was behind me. Maybe there was a siren. I don’t know because I am deaf. My heart was beating fast. He gave me a ticket. I also received other tickets. When I tried to renew my license, the DMV refused my new license. I had too many points for speeding. I had to restudy a driving manual. I love to study the Bible but I hate studying a driver’s manual. Twice I failed the test, but finally I received a new license. I learned my lesson. I must obey rules. I do not want to lose my license. I want freedom to drive.
I was not expecting the policeman. The police surprised me and caught me speeding. I was guilty because he had my speed on radar. I am reminded of the coming of the Lord. He will come when you do not expect Him. He will surprise you. He has all your records with Him. He knows the good and bad you have done. “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 24:44). One day the Lord will come and surprise you. He will come in an hour when you do not expect Him. He could come today. Are you ready? The Deaf need to be ready to meet Jesus because He could come today.
