Read: Psalm 27
Is Your Face Turned Toward Me?
"For now we see through a glass, darkly: but then face to face..." (I Corinthians 13:12). "Hide not thy face far from me" (Psalm 27:9).
The book of Psalms mentions at least seven times that God does hide his face from us.
The first night, after the funeral, was so hard for the husband because he had just lost his best friend, helper, companion and lover. The evening hours were long and her presence was everywhere in the house. His small son stood close by and just would not leave him. It was almost more than he could bear.
Finally, it was time to go to bed, alone. Alone is such a lonely word. He lay there in the dark with his mind being flooded with memories, then he heard the sobs of his son. He looked and the boy was standing at the door. He said, "Dad, can I sleep with you tonight?" He answered, "Come on in, Son." He was glad to have someone near that he loved. As time went by, the boy continued to sob and weep. He said, "Son, are you going to be all right?" The boy then openly cried, "Where is mama? I miss her so much." He was so choked up that he could not answer. Finally, he was able to talk. "Son, your mother is in Heaven and she will no longer be with us." The boy continued to cry.
Then in the dark the boy said, "Father, it is so dark, is your face turned toward me?" He answered, "Yes Son, my face is turned toward you and I am here, very close." The boy then answered, "Then things will be all right." The boy drifted off to sleep.
He lay there in the dark and then started to weep. "I miss her so much. Part of me is gone and I will never be the same. I don't know if I can make it." Then he thought about his son. He walked over to the window and looked at the stars and said, "Father, is your face turned toward me? As long as your face is turned toward me, everything will be all right."
Christian are you having problems, disappointments, trials or suffering? Look up into the Heavens and know that as long as His face is turned toward you everything will be all right. [TGC]
