Read: Proverbs 6:16 - 19
Seven Things
"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea,
seven are an abomination unto him"--Proverbs 6:16.
In this verse, the Lord tells us seven things
that He hates. He says they are an abomination unto Him. The word abomination is
the strongest word for hate used in the Bible. So, here are seven things that
God hates, hates, hates!
l. A proud look. God knows we are dust and
He does not want a proud and haughty spirit from us. "Pride goeth before
destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18).
2. A lying tongue. In John 1:44 the Lord,
speaking of the Devil says, "Ye are of your father the devil...there is no
truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar,
and the father of it." You may be a Christian, but if you lie, you act like
a child of the Devil.
3. Hands that shed innocent blood. It is
wrong to kill. But, Jesus said if you hate your brother, you have committed
murder in your heart already. Murder starts in the heart with hate!
4. A heart that deviseth wicked imagination.
This means plotting or planning evil against another. An entire church can be
wrecked and ruined by a person that does such as this. It displeases the Lord.
5. Feet that are swift in running to mischief.
This means to do great wickedness or deep sin. In Proverbs 6:14, we are told
that a person who goes into sin and wickedness soon develops a habit of sin.
Then it is easy to sin and turn away from God.
6. A false witness. This means you do not
give a true answer. If we are a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ, we need to be
that way at all times, in every place, with every person. Be careful to always
answer truthfully.
7. Soweth discord among the brethren.
"But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison"
(James 3:8). Daily, we need to ask the Lord to put a guard on our tongue.[CR]
THOT: Love what God loves and hate what God hates.
TODAY: Be careful, do not do the things God hates.
