Hidden Things of Darkness
"Therefore judge nothing before the time; until the Lord come, who both
will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the
counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God" --I
Corinthians 4:5.
God is all powerful. He does not need to exercise to stay strong. He does not
grow weak or old. God does not have one gray hair or one wrinkle. God has all
knowledge. He does not need to study and nothing ever surprises Him. God is in
all places at the same time. He is in California and Florida at the same time.
He is there at noon and at midnight. God knows and sees even the hidden things
in darkness. You can hide things from your family and friends, but not from God.
Nothing has ever been hidden from God. In the past, Adam hid in the trees, Achan
hid the stolen goods, David hid his sin but God knew what each one had hidden.
You cannot hide from God.
Once when I was traveling with Ronnie Rice, a deaf evangelist, he asked to
stop at a store. He went in and returned with a bag which he quickly put away.
He did not tell me what he had bought. That night he seemed in a hurry to go to
bed. We were sharing a room with twin beds. In the darkness I was awakened by
the sound of a bag being opened. Then I heard the little laugh of a person
pleased that he had tricked me. Soon I heard the eating of potato chips. It
seemed hours passed until finally the last one was eaten, then the closing of
the bag and one last pleased laugh.
The next morning I asked him why he did not share his chips last night. He
looked surprised that I knew. He is deaf and forgot that I could hear. I knew
what he had done in the darkness because of the sound. God knows at all times,
at any hour what we do--even in the darkness. [TGC]
