Weekly Devotion - #21
Read: Ephesians 4:30 - 32
I'm Sorry, Please Forgive Me
"Be ye kind one
to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another..."-- Ephesians 4:32.
The hardest words to say are, "I'm sorry, will
you forgive me?" In a family argument, who is right and who is wrong? Who is
greater, the wife or the husband? Usually the greatest person is the one willing
to say and really mean it, "I'm sorry. Will you forgive me?" Saying, "I'm sorry"
does not mean you are weak. It means you are strong. Learn to be great in your
family relationships by learning to say, "I'm sorry." You will see a difference
in your family and in your home life.
Practice being first to apologize, to say "I'm
sorry." At the end of the day count how many times you needed to apologize but
you did not. Think of everything; you became angry, you were rude, selfish, you
blamed someone else, lied, failed to do your duty and many other things only you
could know. As you apologize, accept the responsibility of the wrong
doing...don't blame someone else for your situation. Simply say, "I was wrong,
I'm sorry, will you please forgive me?" You will gain much respect through
sincere, honest apology.
The Bible says, "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
(Ephesians 4:32). If you have trusted Christ
as your Savior and are saved, God has already forgiven you. Because of God's
forgiveness to us, we should forgive others. Begin using the hardest words for
us, "I'm sorry, will you forgive me?" Soon these words will become easy to say.
