Read: John 10:22 - 30

His Sheep

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand"---John 10:28.

These words in John 10:28 are words which Jesus spoke concerning His sheep who hear His voice and follow Him. People who listen to the voice of God in the Bible and follow Jesus Christ are called sheep. If you are saved, you are one of His sheep.

Jesus gives His sheep a triple promise that should make every Christian feel safe and secure. First Christ says, "I give my sheep eternal life." Second, "they shall never perish" and third, "neither shall any man pluck (take) them out of my hand."

Now think about this. When a person trusts in Jesus Christ and is saved, he is given eternal life. He will "never perish" (die and go to hell). No one can take him out of Christ's hand. No one, (neither man nor devil) can take the believer out of Christ's hand.

In John 10:29 the Bible explains that God the Father is greater than all and no one can take the believer out of the hands of the Father. The person who is saved is in the hand of Jesus Christ and he can't get out of Jesus' hand because the Father's hand closes him in. What a blessed and wonderful safety we have in Christ Jesus!

Many people think this wonderful teaching is too good to be true. A saved person can never be lost! This promise, given to us from the Word of God, is truly a great blessing!

God has hold of me (as a believer) and He will not let go. I may fail, but He cannot. I am one of His sheep. Does God have a hold on your life? Are you one of His sheep? Trust Him today. [JM]

THOT: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

TODAY: As a Christian, be thankful for an eternity with God.
