Weekly Devotion - #11

Read: Psalm 37:1-7

Trust in the Lord

"Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him..." -- Psalm 37:5.

God always keeps His Word. He never breaks a promise. We can trust Him. He will never fail us.

We can trust God with our past. He has forgiven and forgotten our sins. Our past is safe with Jesus. "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions (sins) from us" (Psalm 103:12).

We can trust the Lord with our present. Whatever our life may be, good and pleasant, hard and fearful, we can trust the Lord to be with us. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). "...for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Heb 13:5b).

We can trust the Lord with our future. Life for you may be wonderful. But if you are saved, it will get better. Life for you may be sad, full of sorrow and sickness, but you can have joy knowing that things someday will be perfect and wonderful. For those who are saved, Jesus has promised to return for us and take us to be with Him where there will be no more sorrow, no death, no crying, and no more pain. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away" (Revelation 20:4).

That will be a wonderful day. Jesus said, "I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also" (John 14:3). Read I Thessalonians 4:10-18 and Titus 2:11-14. Our future is bright because of the promises of God who will never fail us. [FCC]
